The "VII Seminário de Apocalíptica", will be this year a joint event organized by the Universidade Metodista de São Paulo - UMESP - and hosted by the Universidade de Brasília - UnB. The scholars involved intend to continue the sequence of high-profile events on this field of studies being held in Brazil continuously since 1999.
For the first time the meeting will take place in Brasília, so as to strengthen the ties between the Oracula Group (comprised of researchers in apocalyptic literature working at the UMESP) and the Projeto de Estudos Judaico-Helenísticos - PEJ (comprising undergraduates, graduates and scholars in general linked to the History Department of the UnB). Intellectual exchange between both groups has been intense over the years, specially regarding graduates seeking complementary studies in one of the two institutions. Such integrated moves will generate a composite group, whose provisional name is GEA - Grupo de Estudos em Apocalíptica.
The event has, therefore, multiple targets - to continue research in apocalyptic in Brazil, to encourage exchange of people and ideas between the two groups and evaluate results obtained so far, exposing them not only to specialized scholars but to the wider public, in fact to anyone interested in the history of religions and in the development of Judaism and Christianity.
